Privacy policy
Effective September 11, 2026. How we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information, and the rights you have over it.
P@thLion Staffing Inc. (“P@thLion”, “we”, “us”) is a recruitment and workforce consulting firm headquartered in Windsor, Ontario, with offices in Oakville, North York and Edmonton. We are accountable for the personal information in our custody and control. This policy is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Quebec's Law 25 where it applies to Quebec residents, and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Who this policy covers
- Candidates and contractors: people who apply for a role, send a general application, are referred to us, or are placed with a client.
- Client contacts: people at organizations that hire through us or ask us about our services.
- Website visitors and subscribers: anyone who browses this website, submits a form or subscribes to our alerts.
2. What we collect and why

We collect personal information directly from you, from references you name, from our applicant-tracking system, and from publicly available professional profiles when we search for candidates. We collect only what a reasonable person would consider appropriate for the purposes above.
3. Consent
By sending us an application or enquiry you consent to the uses described here. We do not send your résumé or personal details to any client until we have spoken with you and you have agreed to be considered for that specific role. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; we will explain the consequences, such as being unable to continue a placement.
Marketing emails are sent only with your express consent. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and requests are processed within ten business days.
4. Sharing and disclosure
- Clients: the organizations you have agreed to be presented to, and the organization you are placed with.
- Service providers: our applicant-tracking system, payroll and benefits providers, background-check and reference-check providers, email and website hosting. Each is bound by contract to protect your information and use it only on our instructions.
- Legal and regulatory: where required by law, subpoena, court order or a lawful request by a public authority, and to protect our rights or safety.
- Business transitions: if we merge with or are acquired by another organization, on condition that your information remains protected by this policy.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Mobile phone numbers and text-message opt-in data are never shared with third parties for marketing.
5. Where information is stored
Our systems and some service providers store data in Canada and the United States. Information stored outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by its authorities. We use contractual and technical safeguards, and we choose providers with recognized security certifications.
6. How long we keep it
- Candidate profiles and applications: up to 24 months after our last meaningful contact, unless you ask us to delete sooner or a placement requires longer.
- Contractor employment, payroll and tax records: seven years after the engagement ends, as required by Canadian tax law.
- Client contracts and correspondence: seven years after the relationship ends.
- Website enquiries: 12 months.
- Alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
When information is no longer needed it is securely deleted or anonymized.
7. Security
We protect personal information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity: encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, multi-factor authentication on our systems, staff confidentiality obligations and training, and vendor due diligence. No method is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (and provincial regulators where required) as the law requires.
8. Your rights
- Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Withdraw consent or ask us to stop using your information for a particular purpose.
- Delete your information where we have no legal reason to keep it.
- Unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
- Complain to us, and if you are not satisfied, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or the Alberta or Quebec commissioner where applicable.
Write to our Privacy Officer at info@pathlion.ca with “Privacy request” in the subject. We respond within 30 days, and we may need to verify your identity first. There is no fee for a reasonable request.
9. Automated decision-making
We do not make hiring decisions about you by automated means alone. Our systems may rank or match profiles to help recruiters search; every decision to present, shortlist or reject a candidate is made by a person.
10. Cookies
How we use cookies, and how to control them, is described in the cookie policy.
11. Children
Our services are for people of working age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
12. Changes
We review this policy at least once a year and whenever the law or our practices change. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last updated. Significant changes are announced on this page.
